Mobile%20Pic %20SAsia%204Google's Apps store hit 100,000 apps last week!  Apple's Apps store has over 300,000 to choose from!  Downloads of apps are in the BILLIONS (and that's on Apple's Apps store alone)!!!  Apps have amazing, almost magical, abilities that weren't even dreamed of just three years ago!  Isn't it about time we start making some apps to reach the lost!?!

Maybe, but I'm not so sure.  If you're interested in reaching people living in the West and the affluent of the developing world I'd give it a qualified yes but read on to make sure that building an app is really the best place to apply your ministry's resources.  If you are seeking to reach the lost in the developing world I'd have to say hold off on apps for now.  Why do I say that?

I pray this video touches you in six minutes in a similar way to how I have been touched these last many years with the needs of those today living beyond the reach of the gospel.

I must admit that I do not come into mobile ministry in an objective, dispassionate way but rather as one touched by years of seeing the Gospel too little touch the lives of those in Asia I was sent to minister among.  Over ninety five percent of the country I worked in followed another religion.  There were far too few national churches and believers to touch the great majority of the people.  There were far far too few missionaries sharing the good news there.  There were too few gospel media opportunities truly available for these people I grew to love.

It was in that context that I saw mobile ministry revolutionize my team's ministry.  It made the good news "good-er" to people getting to see God's grace and salvation lived out on the little screen before them.  Mobile ministry gave us greater freedom and boldness in sharing the gospel as our fears about our own ability to share were replaced with joy in being able to share beautiful fluent audio and video portrayals of Jesus and His gospel.  Mobile ministry pushed the gospel out beyond our limited circle of relations as these mobile videos were shared with others we would never meet.

My interest in mobile ministry comes from the desperate plight of those beyond the reach of the gospel and mobile ministry will always have a baseline to me of getting the gospel out to those who otherwise could never hear it.  The apostle Paul said it best- "My ambition has always been to preach the Good News where the name of Christ has never been heard, rather than where a church has already been started by someone else" (Romans 10:15, NLT).  PTL mobile phones with their amazing ubiquity and ever-expanding capabilities offer a "once-in-a-lifetime" kind of opportunity to get the gospel out as never before!
